FAQ
Is Costa Rica safe?
Costa Rica, in general, is a very safe country to travel to. Petty theft is the main concern for tourists so we recommend traveling during daylight hours, locking all doors and windows when you are out and not leaving any personal belongings on the beach or in cars. At your accomodation, we recommend using a safe and not exposing expensive items while you are out.
Can I drink the water?
The short answer is yes. You can drink tap water in Costa Rica safely in almost every part of the country. If you have a sensative stomach or are traveling to rural areas, including the Caribbean Coast and non-touristy places, I would recommend drinking filtered or bottled water.
Can I use USD?
Yes, almost everywhere in the country accepts USD- especially in the popular tourist destinations. VISA and MASTERCARD credit cards are also accepted but American Express can cause issues. Many tour guides prefer payments to be made in cash and you can also avoid paying taxes in some cases by paying cash.
